Alaska Trip - July 2006
Kitsy Seveland and I went on a trip to Alaska.  We saw amazing wildlife and incredible scenery.  I shot over 700 photographs, but they cannot compare to the reality of living/breathing the experience.
I would recommend the trip to anyone that appreciates the great outdoors, the last frontier of North America.
Here is just a sampling of what we saw.

This is Seattle, WA.
We had to stop here as we thought this would be our last cup of Starbucks.
Were we wrong.  I think there is a Starbucks on every corner
in Anchorage.  Exotic coffees are a favored beverage in Alaska.

We arrived in Anchorage and drove down to the Kenai Peninsula.
I definitely recommend this as a point of interest for anyone visiting Alaska.

Flowers in Anchorage
Kenai Penisula
Orcas "Killer Whales" in the Kenai Peninsula

The largest of the sea lions are the Stellar Sea Lions.
I was glad to see them as they are on the endangered list.

These remind me of penquins, they are called Cormorants.

Water Friends - the orange beaked bird is a Puffin

My first sight of a glacier "calving".  When the ice hits the water, it's sounds like thunder.
The small ice in the water are icebergs.  Only 1/4 of the iceberg is visible.

The water is turned an unusual blue color by the glaciers.

I see my first humpback whale!  Kitsy is an expert on whales and showed me how to spot them.
I'll be putting more pictures of the humpbacks showing how to spot them.

A room with a view.
Seward, AK which is one of the few towns in the Kenai Penisula.
The other view from our room.

This is Exit Glacier.  Kitsy and I hiked up to the glacier so I could touch it.
It is ice!!!
